We used to get by with virtually nothing in terms of resources, whatever we could scrape up, and people were incredibly generous with what they had. And now I think one of the major shifts is that on a Federal level and a State level there’s been a shift in attention in terms of recognizing how important this area is in terms of the state and to the nation as a whole.

… I went with a group of folks one time on Erie Pier and we were trying to corral a bunch of ducks that we had released, that were part of this sentinel duck study. Many of the ducks we were trying to corral were wild ducks and they flew away so… but it was a lot of fun, we did that at Erie Pier and at Stryker Bay as well, and we had people chewing us out and told us we were totally wasting our time…
